The group should arrive at their starting tee no later than 5 minutes prior to their reserved tee time.

Pace Of Play

Playing golf at a reasonable pace is essential for enjoyment of the game and demonstrates respect for others on the course. Our goal is to consistently facilitate an acceptable Pace of Play for all players at PrairieView through the guidelines below…

  • Expected Pace of Play for an 18-hole round at PrairieView should not exceed 4 hours and 15 minutes.
  • FOUR PLAYERS PER GROUP MAXIMUM (NO EXCEPTIONS)
  • Please keep up with the group directly in front of you (within one golf shot). Keeping up with the group directly in front of you ENSURES an acceptable Pace of Play.
  • The Pro Shop staff monitors Pace of Play in real time utilizing our GPS system. Pace of Play issues are communicated through the GPS monitor.

The following Pace of Play Policies and Procedures will be implemented for any group that becomes 15 minutes or more behind Pace of Play and are not being impeded by a group ahead.

Groups that fall behind the Pace of Play 15 minutes or more will receive a notification on the golf cart GPS screen along with an in-person notification from our Pro Shop staff, which includes the following Pace of Play Procedures below.

Pace of Play Notification – After you have been notified in person by a member of the Pro Shop staff, your group will have 15-minutes to actualize the correct Pace of Play position.

Pace of Play Action Plan – If your group remains behind the correct Pace of Play position after the 15-minute Pace of Play notification, your group may choose from one of the following 2 options:

  • Option 1: The Pro Shop staff will move your group into the correct Pace of Play position.
  • Option 2: Players may end their round and receive a raincheck or refund for the remaining holes.

Top 10 Recommendations to Maintain Pace of Play

  1. A round of golf is meant to be played at a prompt pace. *See rule 5 in the USGA Rules of golf.
  2. When reaching your golf ball, limit the total time per golf shot to ONE MINUTE or less.
  3. Play ready golf; players that are ready may play first if agreed within the group
  4. When hitting an offline golf shot use a fixed visual marker (e.g., a tree, structure, etc.) in the distance as a target line connecting your location point to the visual marker chosen, so you may find your ball faster.
  5. Play a provisional ball if you think your original ball might be lost or out of bounds. *See Rule 18 in the USGA rules of golf.
  6. Assist your fellow player to find a lost ball with a MAXIMUM search time of THREE MINUTES.
  7. When in doubt concerning which golf club to take when leaving the golf cart or your golf bag, take two or three golf clubs.
  8. Place golf clubs/range finders, towels, etc. on or near the flag stick so nothing is left behind.
  9. If a score of triple bogey has been reached on any hole before reaching the green, pick your ball up and proceed to the green and putt out with your group.
  10. Leave the putting green / area promptly after play has concluded on each hole, and record player scores when arriving at the next tee box.

Everyone’s time is valuable so please be aware of our Pace of Play Policies and Procedures. Doing so will ensure golf rounds are completed consistently in a timely fashion, making the great game of golf more enjoyable for everyone!

Alcoholic Beverages

PrairieView is licensed and insured to serve alcoholic beverages on-premise through the clubhouse and beverage cart. It is unlawful to bring alcoholic beverages onto PrairieView premises for consumption. Anyone on PrairieView property in possession of an alcoholic beverage that was not purchased at or served by PrairieView will be asked to discard it if opened or have it confiscated. Failure to comply with this policy may result in being asked to leave the premises and to forfeit any fees at the discretion of the PrairieView Golf Club and Byron Forest Preserve District.

Carts

All golfers riding in a cart must pay a cart rental fee. Each cart operator is required to have a valid driver’s license. Under no circumstances are those under the age of 16 allowed to operate a cart. Carts must be operated in a safe manner at all times. All signs, safety rules and regulations must be strictly obeyed. Each operator assumes the responsibility for damage caused to the cart and/or course.

Carts are to remain on the cart paths on all holes near tees and greens and at all times on par three holes. Under normal conditions, carts may otherwise move from the cart path to a player’s ball at a 90 degree angle. Under wet conditions, carts may be restricted to the cart paths at all times.

Golfers with physical limitations may request the Pro Shop set their cart to “PWD mode” allowing them closer access to greens and tees. No carts shall drive on greens or tees.

Rain Checks

Weather is part of the challenge of golf; therefore, rain checks are not issued for chilly, windy or rainy conditions.  However, rain checks will be issued to any golfer who is forced to abandon their round of golf when the course is closed due to lightning or unplayable course conditions.  Rain checks are issued as credit toward your next golf fees at PrairieView and are figured using the percentage of the number of remaining holes according to your tee time, pace of play, and sunset.  Rain checks are not issued for darkness at twilight rates.  All rain checks are issued at the discretion of the PrairieView staff.
